Tiziana is an Environmental Scientist specializing in environmental pollution, ecological restoration, and sustainable use of natural resources. She worked as a research scientist in the Department of Environmental Engineering at the University of Maryland - College Park and in the Water Management Research Unit at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Parlier, CA. 

Tiziana has developed, led, and managed multiple projects in the field of green technologies and nature-based solutions for water and soil contamination. Her current research focuses on finding innovative solutions to socio-environmental challenges, such as water pollution, food security, and human health.

She is currently the scientific coordinator of the 4-year project DIVAGRI (Revenue diversification pathways in Africa through bio-based and circular agricultural innovations) funded by the E.U. Horizon 2020 program. 

Tiziana has been teaching in the Departments of Environmental Sciences and Public Policy since 2016.  She received her Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences at ETH Zurich and an M.Sc. in Agricultural Sciences at Marche Polytechnic University, Ancona, Italy. Between 2005 and 2007, she was a postdoctoral fellow in the Soil and Agrifood Institute at Cranfield University, U.K.
