Asya Passinsky is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Central European University in Vienna.

Her main areas of research are metaphysics, social and political philosophy, philosophy of social science, and feminist philosophy. She has published papers in social ontology, feminist metaphysics, and the philosophy of money. She is currently writing a book on the metaphysics of social objects such as borders, states, and corporations, as well as a series of papers on how essence and grounding are useful tools for social theorizing. 

Before coming to CEU, Passinsky was a core faculty member in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to that, she taught at Dartmouth College and New York University. She obtained her PhD in Philosophy at New York University in 2016, and she completed the BPhil in Philosophy at the University of Oxford in 2010 on a Rhodes scholarship. She did her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
